Mortality Of Man
Deviation Actions
Literature Text
Look upon what you've done.
See her take her last breath,
So heart broken.
You played for power and more,
Thought you could stop her
From slipping away.
Your intentions just so simple,
Find the way to save her protect her,
But in the end,
You just killed her.
Guess this shows
The mortality of man.
You were so high,
Caught up in your power.
Turned dark side,
Forgot the light side,
Forgot to ask her
If she wanted to be immortal.
I guess this
Shows the mortal man
That you always were,
Just another power luster.
You wanted more,
And got what you had coming.
Those who gain power lose it.
Do you remember that?
See her take her last breath,
So heart broken.
You played for power and more,
Thought you could stop her
From slipping away.

Part of a forgotten project called Prometheus Failure. Basically I wrote ten poems centred around blaming a person for going after power and not thinking of the implications.
This one is on Anakin Skywalker, who went after the power to save his wife without even asking her if she wanted to be immortal. He was arrogant and selfish, just thinking about himself, what he wanted, unwilling to accept the laws of nature and sinking into taboo. I also wanted to show that while selfish, he is a tragic hero.
I quoted Palpatine near the end as what he said is correct.
